MANILA, Feb. 16, 2010—As the government beefs up its campaign against HIV/AIDS, the Catholic Church reiterated that condoms are not always effective in preventing the spread of the disease.
Fr. Greg Gaston, who served on Vatican’s Pontifical Council for the Family, is making the claims despite a widespread scientific consensus that condoms are impermeable to HIV/AIDS.
